Office Administrators are the unsung heroes of any business.
The face of GUNN in Vancouver is Office Administrator, Misty Saunby! Our Yaletown office is a hub of activity and Misty keeps all our admins and technical employees in-check!
This year marked three years at GUNN for Misty, so it’s time to reflect on her time
holding down the fort …
Wow! They say time flies when you’re having fun, Misty! What’s your most memorable moment at GUNN?
It’s like the Pet Shop Boys said – if you’re never being boring, you’re never being bored!
I’ve collected a lot of memories of my time here already, but if I had to choose one, it would be the Client Appreciation Party from my first spring here. It was a lot of work to put together, but everyone really worked together and made it a great evening. It was the first big group thing I did post-pandemic, and there were moments where I wasn’t sure I remembered how to socialize on a mass level!
Even while everyone was so busy, I got to spend some time with and to know some of my coworkers better, and to appreciate them as individuals. I think that’s a residual benefit that pays off every day.

Aside from the Front Desk, what other roles and responsibilities do you hold at GUNN?
I see my biggest responsibility at GUNN as making everyone’s else’s day smoother and easier. On a day to day basis, that means making sure the office is stocked with coffee, fruit, and stationary, and it also means pitching in wherever I can to assist the other admins with everything from proposals to posters, lending an ear to anyone in need of it, and endlessly wrangling and refining data – which I secretly enjoy!
Misty, your creativity is immeasurable, and we’re still blown away by your handmade Holiday decorations. Can you tell us about them?
I feel very lucky to work somewhere I’m allowed to utilize my creativity for office projects like this!
The Palette: This was easy because the GUNN brand colours of navy, silver and white are perfect for classy, cool toned Christmas décor.
The Ornaments: Rope Gauge Snowflakes: It started with the rope gauges – not only do they have a snowflake shape, but they make a really charming jingle when they bump into each other. I’d like to hang them directly on the tree, but they’re too heavy, so I cut them out of foamcore.
Elevator Key Stars: We had a lot of these on hand, so I thought, why not put them to work? The plastic stars give them a little more presence.
GuPPI Logos: So much thought clearly went into designing the GUPPI logo, I wanted to do my part to make it iconic, and it GUNNS up the tree quite a bit!
Metallic Star Garland: I bought this to decorate a staff member’s desk for their birthday, but I liked it so much I repurposed it here. It emphasizes the star motif and gives the tree a little sparkle the paper decorations are missing.
The Neon G Tree Topper: I wanted a statement piece for the topper. The biggest challenge was finding a way to reinforce the tree enough to carry the weight – there was a lot of experimenting with chopsticks, floral wire and pipe cleaners to make it work!

What projects do you have on the go outside of GUNN?
I’m currently quite into weight-training – I’ve become the Littlest Gym-Bro! I’m also working on multiple knitting projects, hosting a group for fans of classic films, trying to push my Spanish-speaking skills past Duolingo level, learning to mix cocktails, and on track to beat my personal best yearly reading goal.
Is there anything you can’t do?! Lastly, what’s next for Misty?!
I’m not sure – it will be at least as surprising to me as anyone else, so I’m looking forward to it!
If you’re passing our Yaletown office, pop in to say “hi” to Misty!
